Put the installation scope beside the equipment quote
Ask for the proposed equipment model numbers and a written list of included installation work. Have the contractor distinguish the indoor and outdoor equipment, controls, electrical work, duct changes, removal of old equipment and any permit responsibilities. A lower equipment price alone does not describe the installed project.
Explain the comfort problems you want resolved
In your request, identify whether you are replacing failed equipment, comparing an aging system or trying to address uneven room temperatures. Ask how the provider will determine the appropriate system for the home and whether the proposal addresses those existing comfort concerns. Do not assume that replacing equipment alone resolves an airflow problem.
Compare handover and follow-up
Before accepting a quote, ask what startup checks, operating instructions, warranty paperwork and follow-up are included. Separate manufacturer coverage from the installing company’s labor terms. Request written exclusions and the process for approving changes, rather than relying on a single headline price.
