AC not cooling: describe the pattern
Note whether the problem affects the whole home or only a few rooms, when it began, and whether air is coming from the vents. Include any recent service and the equipment age if you already know it. You do not need to identify a failed component to request an assessment. Avoid opening equipment or attempting electrical or refrigerant work to gather details.
Compare the diagnostic visit with the repair quote
Ask whether the visit has a diagnostic charge and whether that charge is credited toward approved repairs. A repair proposal should name the diagnosed fault, proposed parts, labor, and any return visit. Ask what happens if further work is discovered after authorization, and request approval before additional charges.
Keep repair and replacement decisions separate
If replacement is suggested, ask for the reason the proposed repair is unsuitable and a written replacement scope. Compare the included work and warranties rather than treating a replacement recommendation as a diagnosis. Our replacement guide helps you prepare a separate estimate request.
